Awwwwww, tired Gecko.
Simple, but not easy.
That is how I could describe the answer to lots of peoples questions. More often than not, it comes down to putting in the work over a long period of time.
Those constant habits, practices and attitudes which add up hour by hour, day by day and year by year.
They require Effort.
General health. Fitness. Diet. Lifestyle. Exercise. New hobbies. Maintenance. Appearance. Your job. Cleaning. Small actions, repeated over a long time.
“A stitch in time saves nine”. -People who sew.
I honestly didn’t understand what this meant until way too late in my life, when I actually thought about what it’s saying. If you make one small, simple stitch in a hole now, you will save yourself 9 times the effort later on after the hole has gotten way bigger!
Think of a car, or a house you may own or use. You could check all the things yourself on daily or weekly basis; the oil, tyre pressures, functions of the lights and wipers, your fuel! Or you could leave all of that, and wait until the car decides to fail drastically and inconveniently. Then take it to the mechanics for an expensive diagnosis, and ‘best we could do’ fix. Or roadside recovery can come drag you to the nearest petrol station asking you, “Why didn’t you just put fuel in? That bit is so simple!”
Simple. We know to put fuel in, don’t we? Do that regularly. Recharge the thing often. Get the vacuum and duster out every week, or the house will be a mess.
All simple things but requiring energy, effort and attention; three limited resources.
If you want to make a positive change in your life & lifestyle, if something is worth doing, an answer is probably very simple, but probably not easy, and probably requires persistent energy input and conscious focus. But in the long run, gives back massive return on investment and can just become a habit.
Reassess your choices. Reassess your attitude. And be prepared for work.
And remember fellow Space Dust, nothing matters!
Love,
-Frank
